Scotland leads the way with highest number of public charging devices per capita in UK

A recent study conducted by ZapMap in January 2023 has shown that Scotland has the highest number of public charging devices per 100,000 residents, surpassing the rest of Great Britain. The study indicates that Scotland has 69 charging devices available per 100,000 people, while the UK average stands at 55 charging devices per 100,000 individuals. This achievement is significant, as it highlights Scotland’s commitment to promoting sustainable transportation by providing accessible and convenient infrastructure for electric vehicle users.

The ChargePlace Scotland Network has expanded to over 2500 public charging points, and its service center located at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc is experiencing an impressive volume of driver requests and queries, with up to 5000 calls received each week. The service center’s dedication to providing exceptional customer service is reflected in their remarkable average response time of just 15 seconds, as of May 2nd, 2023. This outstanding level of responsiveness demonstrates their commitment to ensuring that electric vehicle users have access to the support they need, precisely when they need it.

According to the latest data as of January 2023 gathered from ZapMap, Scotland has the highest rate of provision of rapid or quicker charging devices, with an impressive 17.3 devices per 100,000 people, compared to the UK average of 10.3 devices per 100,000 people. This indicates that Scotland is leading the way in promoting sustainable transportation by providing a robust and efficient infrastructure that caters to the needs of electric vehicle users.
