The following is an update for drivers looking to make use of charge point 51141 of Argyll and Bute Council, located in a previously leased car park from Luss Estates. That lease has now terminated and the car park has transferred back to the land owners – Luss Estates.

The Electric Vehicle charger located within the car park remains under the management of Argyll and Bute Council however Luss Estates have introduced new fees to use the car park and this is managed via an Automatic Number Plate Recognition system.

Argyll and Bute Council want to provide EV chargers without any limitations and do not apply parking fees within their own car parks on top of the fee to use the EV chargers.

Due to the system now in place in this car park, if you do not pay a parking fee you will be sent a £100 penalty by the parking management company used by Luss Estates.

The Council have agreed a temporary solution with Luss Estates which will ensure you can continue to use the EV charger free of parking charges. Unfortunately because the system works remotely via cameras, you will still be sent a penalty notice in the post if you do not pay for parking.

If this happens please contact Luss Estates at to have your penalty notice cancelled and to have your details entered on their system for free parking when you are using the charger. Please note; EVs that do not use the charger are still subject to parking fees.

Argyll and Bute Council acknowledges this is far from ideal and are actively working to find a better solution. They would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this situation.
